Making Remote Work

National Remote Work Strategy

Research carried out in October 2020 found that 94 percent of participants would like to work remotely after the crisis created by the pandemic. This figure is almost 10 per cent higher than it was in the first phase of the research published in May 2020. This Strategy aims to build on the progress made in the adoption of remote work over this period. The objective is to ensure that remote working is a permanent feature in the Irish workplace in a way that maximises economic, social and environmental benefits.

The Government’s vision is to ensure remote working is a permanent feature in the Irish workplace in a way that maximises economic, social and environmental benefits. To achieve this, the national Remote Work Strategy is built on three pillars which will be bolstered by underpinning conditions.

Three block showing each pillar. Pillar 1 Create a conducive environment. Pillar 2 Develop and leverage remote working infrastructure. pillar 3 Build a remote work policy and guidance framework

In each of these areas, there are immediate actions to be undertaken that will progress remote working now and inform decision-making into the future.
