The EU plans to invest over €122 million in strengthening digital technologies and competences across the EU. The funds are being made available through a series of calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme, and are open to the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Within the package of investment, €32 million will be for projects to set up a Network of Safer Internet Centres. A further €31 million will support data projects, including the Genome for Europe project. €25 million will support projects for cloud-to-edge infrastructure, while €18 million will go to AI projects. Significantly, €16 million will go to projects promoting advanced digital skills and the digital skills of young people, especially girls.
